A’ama Organic Farm

From picking our coffee beans, to drying and roasting them, we take the most careful care of our coffee to make sure it meets the highest quality standards of the world-famous Kona Coffee.

Discover why A’ama Organic Kona coffee is one of the best on the market.

Certified Organic
Our coffee is certified organic by both the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and HOFA (Hawaiian Organic Farmers Association), a Hawaiian-based certification committee. Organic growing is a stance we adopted when we acquired the farm 30 years ago, because for us, quality comes first. We do not want to use chemical fertilizers that could alter the taste of our coffee. Instead, we use chicken shit to help our coffee trees growing in an environment that otherwise provide them with all the right conditions.

Shade Grown
What does it take to grow high-quality organic Kona coffee? Sun, rain and shade. Our A’ama Organic Kona Coffee gets it all. Because our farm is ideally located a 1200 feet high in one of Kona’s mountains sides, it gets all the rain it needs at night, the sun in the mornings and shade in the afternoons. Banana, avocadoes and bamboo trees provide this much-needed shade to our coffee trees, allowing them to blossom big and healthy-looking beans.

Hand-picked
Our coffee beans are carefully hand-picked all through the harvest season to make sure that we only get the ripest coffee beans. This a long but necessary process, as coffee beans do not get all ripe at the same time. A coffee tree will therefore be picked 3 to 4 times over a harvest period of about two months. This careful selection of our coffee beans is another guarantee of high-quality coffee down the line.

Sun dried
Because we want our A’ama Organic Kona Coffee to be processed in the most natural manner from start to end, it is sun-dried for as long as it needs. The average time before it is turned to perfectly-dried parchment is 4 to 5 days. Do you really believe there is anything better than our beautiful Hawaiian sun to develop the full aroma and flavor of Kona coffee? We agree with you that there is not!

Gold Medal Winner
In 2004, A’ama Organic Kona Coffee won the “Cream of the Crop” competition, a coffee blind tasting taken by Kona Coffee consumers. Our coffee won the first place, rewarding our efforts to achieve high-quality standards in coffee making. What best than being elected by the public? To live up to our reputation, we have maintained our efforts ever since, still improving our organic process along the way. To provide you with the best coffee is our concern.
